Choosing the Right Preferences
Your preferences determine who you see and who can see you. Setting them thoughtfully means a better feed and more relevant matches — but being too strict can quietly cut your results down to almost nothing.

Age range
Section titled “Age range”A common mistake is setting a very narrow age range. Consider widening it by a few years in each direction — someone two years outside your original range can still be a great match.
Distance
Section titled “Distance”If you’re in a city, a range of 20–50 km usually works well. If you’re in a rural area or willing to travel, consider increasing this significantly.
Keep in mind:
- A smaller distance means fewer people see your profile
- Long-distance connections can still work — some people are open to relocating or travelling for the right person
What your preferences say about you
Section titled “What your preferences say about you”Preferences filter your feed, but they don’t override someone else’s preferences. If you set very narrow filters, you may also be missing people who would be genuinely interested in you but fall just outside your range.
Updating your preferences
Section titled “Updating your preferences”You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the filters icon on the Explore page — there’s no penalty for adjusting them. If you’ve had the same settings for a while and matches have slowed down, refreshing your preferences is one of the first things worth trying.
